Commandments of the Misfits

As an experienced road tripper, I have witnessed and been through somethings on the road at various hockey arenas. I've seen excellentdisplays of class by opposing fans and I've seen and experienced firsthand quite the opposite. Also, being a hockey fan, I have heard manystories of classless acts done by various fan bases; things involvingwords that shouldn't be yelled out in a hockey arena, batteries, acheerleader named Molly, inappropriate treatment of mascots, and angryfans throwing things at their own team.

As the president ofMitch's Misfits, Michigan Tech hockey's relatively new student section,I hope that visiting fans have only positive things to say  about usupon departure of Houghton. I like to instill class, sportsmanship,  andrespect in Michigan Tech hockey fans. So here for you now, I'd like topresent an idea that I thought of about two years ago and somethingthat I would like implement this season. Ladies and gentleman, I giveyou the Commandments of the Misfits:

TWiM - October 26, 2007

Coming to the MacInnes this weekend is the #1 Ranked North Dakota Fighting Sue. This week the pollers at the USA Today and USCHO/CSTV has rewarded our team with a 14th and 15th ranking respectively.

This game will be our team's first test of the season. If we are going to have a strong season again, we need to show it against this team. The Misfits and other fans are going to have to be loud and proud. Last we swept the Fighting Sioux in their own building, the nearly silent Ralph. We are going to need to shake up their starting goaling, Jean-Phillipe Lamoureux, he's responsible for this nice goal at the Final Five last year. Currently he has three consecutive shut-outs to begin the season, on helped by a shortened game. Don't expect that streak to continue much long. He's easily shaken, harass him early, harass him often.

Madison Road Trip

Gas for a trip from Detroit to Madison: $120

Tickets to the MTU/UW series: $44

Hotel room in Madison: $110

Watching the Huskies spank the BADgers again at the Kohl Center: priceless

The first major road trip of the year. State Sreet in Madison during the combined Football and Hockey season. Folks, it just doesn't get much better than this......well, yeah it does with two Husky wins! My first opportunity to see the boys in action and I've gotta say, I'm pretty pumped right now. Hopefully it's even better after the NoDak series.

I'm really glad that we have a decent sized crowd going. The team will be really fired up to see us there taking all the abuse from the BADgers fans and play their tails off. The more, the merrier.

Article Round-up: October 11, 2007

Each week I'll provide a list to articles feature Michigan Tech Hockey.

This Week in Misfits: October 9, 2007

After a great opening weekend hockey with the 7 goal shutout of Toronto in exhibition, we head into the first big weekend of the year. This weekend brings the first ever Superior Showcase in which we'll be playing Northern Michigan on Friday and Lake State on Sunday.

Friday game brings our biggest rival into the MacInnes, so please be LOUD!!! Many NMU fans will be in the building, feel free to rip on them as much as possible, but remain respectful (I.E. Don't throw things at them or start fights). Important information to know when ripping on NMU:

This Week in Misfits: October 2, 2007

The first weekend of Husky Hockey is upon us. We are taking on the University of Toronto Varsity Blues in exhibition hockey Saturday. Be sure to come out with your Husky Gold. All those caught wearing blue shall be subject to a sieving.

To keep this short, since we are playing a Canadian team, a vocalist will be singing the Canadian national anthem. Traditionally in Canada the fans will sing along with the vocalist or band, much like the Misfits do for our Anthem. It looks something like the below.

Out of respect to their team and our players, I request that you learn the O'Canada, which can be found below.
