About the Misfits

The Misfits were born while Chris Nesbitt (Left) and Tim Braun (Right) were driving to Duluth to watch some MTU hockey, they were trying to come up with a name for the student section. You see the UMD fans call themselves the Penalty Box (not my favorite) and the Wisconsin Badgers students call themselves the Crease Creatures (better) and then Northern Michigan has the Puck Heads (different). They originally thought about the Dog Pound but if you know football you know that name is taken. Tim then started brainstorming and thought about the fact that they sat behind Mitch Lake and with the way things went during the 2003-2004 season with Public Safety he definitely felt like a misfit. And Chris agreed that it sounded good. So they asked Mitch that night while enjoying some snacks in a local watering hole in Duluth and he was all for it. Thus were born.
